| Measure | Score | How it was decided |
|---|---|---|
| Clutter | Not yet scored — needs a timed hands-on test | Needs a timed hands-on review of the first screen. |
| Steps to first result | Not yet scored — needs a timed hands-on test | Our guide uses 5 steps, but that is our teaching pace, not a measured count. |
| Free tier | Generous free tier | Yes. OpenAI's pricing page: "The free version of ChatGPT is available to everyone"; paid plans Go, Plus, Pro (plus Business/Enterprise). |
| Easy to forget subscription | Medium risk: clear cancel steps, but three different billing places and "uninstall doesn't cancel" are easy traps | OpenAI Help (help.openai.com/en/articles/7232927): web subscribers cancel via account menu > Settings > Billing > Cancel plan > Cancel; App Store / Google Play subscribers must cancel in that store. Uninstalling the app does NOT cancel. Cancel 24h+ before billing date. |
